Despite no official announcement from the UFC of the event, a bout between Josh Neer (24-7-1 MMA, 3-4 UFC) and Mac Danzig
(18-5-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has been added to UFC Fight Night 17.
MMAjunkie.com first learned of the bout from Mickey Dubberly, Neer's manager from K.O. Dynasty Sports
Management, and Danzig announced the bout yesterday on his MySpace page.
The bout, along with a rescheduled clash between Amir Sadollah and Nick Catone, is expected to take place Feb. 7 at The
Palms in Las Vegas.
Danzig, "The Ultimate Fighter 6" winner, last fought at UFC Fight Night 15. The 28-year-old dropped a unanimous decision
to Clay Guida. It was Danizg's first loss in the UFC after having previously defeated Tommy Speer and Mark Bocek by submission.
The PRIDE and King of the Cage veteran is just 2-3 in his previous five bouts, but had won 12-straight fights between 2004 and 2006.
Neer is coming off a razor-thin split-decision loss to Nate Diaz in September, also at UFC Fight Night 15. "The Dentist" fought on
the organization's first Fight Night card in August 2005, but has made only sporadic appearances for the UFC since.
Having spent five years as a professional, the 25-year-old holds career wins over Din Thomas, Joe Stevenson and Melvin Guillard.
